Well, it's taken a few years, but here we are...finally! Our Race Director, Caleb Efta, wanted to drop a quick note to celebrate this special occasion.
We opened registration 2 weeks ago now, and I never could have imaged this response. We had our first entrant 45 minutes after registration opened, and we are now at 30% of capacity! In the first 48 hours, we had over 10,000 organic views...a number about 9,000 more than I had hoped. It's a response like this that confirms to me that we are onto something good here.
To our local community and committee, words genuinely fail to express my gratitude, thank you my friends. So many of you believed in what we were doing and helped us get to this point. We would not be here without you. If I could single you out I would, but it would take far too long. We've still got a long road ahead of us, but you guys are up to the challenge. I'm excited to continue down this path with you all!
To our courageous entrants, thank you for your confidence. We know the uncertainty of a new race, especially one this daunting. To sign up without reading race reports, seeing finishing rates, or talking to previous runners takes guts. It's that type of gut that helped found this race, so we know we are in good company with each other. We promise you to do everything in our power to ensure you get the best race we can provide and our aid station Captains promise to use every trick in the bag to get you across that finish line.
To our volunteers, thank you for your promise of support. You are as important as runners, and without you this event could not happen. Thank you for your time and energy in the months to come, you are the spine of this race. Practice those cowbells!
To the many partners and agencies, thank you for your efforts. We know first hand the amount of work that goes into this type of event, and your time and energies have been fundamental to our success. We would like to say a special thank you to the USFS and Tommy, you've been with us since the beginning and we look forward to many more years. Thank you. We'd also like to thank the Gunnison Ranger District, Laws Whiskey House, Colorado State Land Board, and the Hardrock 100 committee. Your support, advice, and encouragement is deeply appreciated.
To everyone else, it's not too late! There's still slots left for runners, and we always need more volunteers! Come out and be a part of this amazing event. Join our family, all are welcome.
Please don't hesitate to reach out, on social media, email or even phone! We love hearing from you all, and your questions and feedback are so helpful in making this race even better.
Thank you to all,
Caleb Efta, Race Director"
