Refunds are not offered for any reason. However, runners may defer their spot to the following year for the following reasons:

PREGNANCY AND NEW CHILD DEFERMENT

A runner may defer their entry to the following year if they meet one of these requirements. Please click the button below to read the entire policy.

  • The runner becomes pregnant after entering the race.

  • The runner or their partner gives birth to a child in the time between the runner entering the race and the deferral deadline.

  • The runner adopts a child under the age of 5 in the time between the runner entering the race and the deferral deadline.

The following rules apply to Pregnancy or New Child deferrals:

  • A deferral gives the runner a lottery bypass for the following year’s race which is not transferable.

  • All qualification requirements for the following year’s race must be met. No exceptions.

  • The runner must follow the same lottery rules as all applicants, less they forfeit the deferral.

  • The deferral does not roll over the entry fee, trail work opt-outs, mile-to-dollars donations, or additional purchases.

  • The deadline for requesting a deferral is 31 days before the race.

WESTERN STATES OR HARDROCK DEFERMENT

Due to the difficulty of getting into WSER and Hardrock, we offer a deferral for those runners who are lucky enough to get drawn into one of those two races.

The following rules apply to WSER or Hardrock deferrals:

  • A deferral gives the runner a lottery bypass for the following year’s race which is not transferable.

  • All qualification requirements for the following year’s race must be met.

  • The runner must follow the same lottery rules as all applicants, less they forfeit the deferral.

  • The runner will receive a 25% credit from the High Lonesome entry fee towards the following year’s entry fee.

  • The deferral does not roll over trail work opt-outs, mile-to-dollars donations, or additional purchases.

  • The deadline for requesting a deferral is 7 days after the respective lottery.

  • This deferral only applies to being selected into the race, not their lotteries.
