2019 Trail Work Days

Every High Lonesome 100 runner is required to do a minimum of 8 hours of trail work or pay a $125 opt out fee. This year we have partnered with Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI) and the Salida Ranger District (SRD) to schedule 3 work days this year!

At the High Lonesome, we believe that our greatest resource is our land. We also believe that it's our duty to be leaders in conservation and trail stewardship, which is why we made the trail work requirements. We aren't just doing this because we think it's cute or because it's what some other race does...no. We are doing this because trails are our lifeblood. For several decades there has been a steady decrease in funding for trails and a significant increase in trail use. Without involvement by people like us, our trails will continue to be ignored, lost, or loved to death. So we encourage you to join us on one of these days. Not only will you help with an amazing cause, but you'll enjoy it as well.
